Hi Natalie- thanks for the note. I didn't decide to become a science teacher until I had been in college for a few years. I knew I wanted to do something in science for quite a while, though. I began my college studies in geology but later broadened out to earth science education which let me also study oceanography, meteorology, and astronomy. To be certified as a secondary science teacher I also studied chemistry, physics, and biology as well as my education classes. Since I've begun teaching I've also taken science classes in such subjects as systems science, climatology, limnology (lake and stream studies), and ornithology. Part of what I love about teaching is that I'm also always learning new things. PolarTREC has provided me with a huge set of new learning opportunities and for that I'm thankful.
