what type of food did you get to eat on the boat? from austin moniz (WDA 6th grade)

KBP Team

We ended up eating a lot more fish than in previous years.  There were some miscalculations in how much food we needed to stock, so the fish was used to augment our supply of chicken, beef, and pork.

We also ate lots of delicious, fresh-baked bread!

The rest was pretty ordinary, even by American standards:  a variety of starches (potatoes, rice, oats, buckwheat); hearty soups (usually with some cabbage and other veggies in a chicken broth); and cold cuts (cheese, kielbasa).

The main thing was that by the end of the research cruise, meals were feeling pretty repetitive.  I was pretty excited to get back to the U.S. where I could choose from a much wider variety of cuisines!
