hi Dr. E i wanted to know if you fall into a house pit how do you get out????

Oh, it's usually not too difficult! The deepest ones we've seen are about 1 m deep, with walls that today are gently sloping (I'm not quite sure whether or not they would have originally been vertical). So we can usually just walk out of them by stepping up and over the walls. But if that doesn't work, then they also often have entryways that are still visible (and functional!) through one of the walls!-- Dr. E.
