Are the stinging netles their worse than the ones in washington?

I don't know whether or not the nettles here are the same species as in Washington or not, but their sting feels pretty much exactly the same. Here's my "Ask the Asker" challenge for you: try to find at least two ways that nettles have been used in the past?
