Hi Cristina! Looking forward to learning more about the project you'll be working on up in Barrow. Wondering which home-away-from-home you're staying in....quonset hut or the "hotel"? I was in Quonset hut #166-looked a little rough on the outside but was wonderfully warm and cozy on the inside.
Have fun!

Hi Lisa!I do miss you so! I'm in Hut #254. Ours looks different from yours - your had a rounded roof, we have a rectangular flat roof. I read your posting about how you came up early to Barrow! That was so awesome!
And yes, the huts are toasty!! My principal investigator Elliot Friedman is quite the chef and made this fantastic chili. While cooking it, the inside temperature was 80 degrees!! It was like being back in Los Angeles.

Hi Cristina! Oh, that chili sounds good right now, I'm starving! Glad you like your Arctic home -I think we're staying in the dormitory "hotel" behind the main campus building when I come back in August. I was hoping our times would cross each other but it looks like I'll be arriving on the 23rd by boat from Prudhoe Bay, which I think is a few weeks past your date?? Too bad as it would have been great to catch up! I love our museum outhouse pic with Hillary!(:
I'm wondering.... how you're finding the internet access? have you skyped successfully and would you be interested in trying to skype at some point if you have time?
take care and watch out for those polar bears! (speaking of polar bears- check with the wildlife office in the main college building, as they had extra polar bear warning posters-my students found them fascinating!)

Lisa,I'm disappointed too that we won't be able to pass like ships in the night during our time in Barrow. We would have had a great reunion!
The internet connection is really good! It's a little slow, but not that slow. I'm sure if we skyped, there would be a slight delay when someone spoke and when I actually heard the question and then could reply.
Speaking of skyping, I'm considering doing a PolarConnect event the 3rd week of July, depending on my researcher's schedule. But that has not been scheduled nor confirmed yet!!
