how do ice ridges form/ shane jarvis

Lollie Garay

Hi Shane! It takes a lot of energy to form ridges in the ice! Wind and ocean work together to move massive sheets of sea ice that crash into one another. As they're pushed together, there's really no place to go but up (think mountain building on a small scale!) Pictures don't do justice to how impressive this is in real life. Wouldn't want to be on the ice when it moves like this!
