I noticed there was a small college in town,Is there a University?

Hi Aileen,
Thanks for reading my journal and visiting the site. The college, Ilisagvik College, was established to provide educational opportunities for the native people of Barrow. Obviously, anyone can take a course, the focus is on work-place skills.
The high school students who are thinking of college often look to the University of Alaska at Fairbanks or Anchorage. That may not seem like a long way away but from here it is about 800 air miles to Fairbanks, far enough to get away but not too far.
