Are this tides different at the north pole than at lower latitudes because the moon is a different angle relative to the earth. I may have been taught this in 8th grade but that was so long ago.

Thanks

Hello,
Hmmmmmmmmmm.....Did I teach you about tides?  Two years ago?  Do you run XC?  Have two dogs?  If you sign your post, I will know who you are.
Tides-- Good question, you are thinking. I asked around and got several different responses, so I decided to take your question to Chief  Navigator Stowe and Captain McNeill.Their response: There is no data addressing your question.  Very, very few ships sail up here and because we travel in deep water, tidal currents would have more of an effect than water levels.  However, the Beaufort Sea is a gyre with several different water sources entering and has unpredictable currents that cannot be associated with tides or wind.  Thus trying to determine the currents resulting from tides would be very challenging.  WHOI is collecting data on water levels in the Beaufort Gyre using pressure-sensitive sensors (similar to the tsunami warning buoys we discussed in class).
Thank you for following along,
