Hi, I am kassidy and i go to ST.MARK CATHOLIC SCHOOL and i am in the 6th grade.i wanted to know what conditions were the bowheadbwales were in when you saw them?

Hi Kassidy! Thanks for the great question. Unfortunately we haven't seen any whales yet. The wind has really kicked up the last few days, with huge swells that would damage our oceanographic equipment, so we've been doing work in the lab and working with local school children instead. However we have heard that at least one is beginning to head this way, and their is a pod of killer whales in the area as well as quite a few grey whales! So once the wind slows down we hope to see some whales. In the mean time we've seen about 4 seals, lots of seabirds and one possible polar bear far in the distance on an island we were pulling into our first night.I'll let you know when we see a whale!
