Hello Lisa,

Good luck with everything on the expedition! I'm sure you will have a wonderful experience. Now that we will begin school soon my students will be following in on your journals. Thanks for the comments and I hope to discuss decomposition with you in the future. Enjoy, John

Hi John-sounds great, and isn't it crazy that I'm excited to talk with you about decomposition!(:
Looking forward to virtually meeting your students! Not sure when you begin, but if you have any budding artists who'd like to possibly have their work shown in the "Through the Porthole" series:
1)Go to Journal #12 and follow the link to the original porthole artwork.
2) Print and cut out the porthole.
3) Insert student artwork behind the porthole on some type of interesting wooden surface.
4) Take a close-up photo and send it along to me with the students 1st name, and name of school.
I can't guarantee I can get it it posted (especially if this reply triggers a lot of artwork), but if possible I will. Priority given to drawings of plankton! For inspiration and a nice lesson plan connection see the Ted-Ed video: The Secret Life of Plankton at:
