I s it hard to work in the cold weather?

Anonymous

Hi! It is physically hard to work in the cold with the boat pitching about! The water temperature is just above freezing so the cold spray and water on your hands feels pretty chilly! I've found that I can't really wear gloves and successfully transfer the organisms from net to lab bottles so I've been doing that work bare handed on the aft deck....brrrr...it's a bit cold! However they keep the inside of the boat nice and toasty so it's a good place to warm up in between our work. Despite the work being physically challenging it's so intellectually and emotionally exciting to see all of these amazing sea creatures come up from the deep that those feelings overwhelm the tired, achy muscle ones!take care and safe seas,
Lisa
