Hi Jeff! How cold is it down there? I remember hearing it was warmer in Antarctica than it was here in Liverpool! It must be cool there in the ocean. How long till you're in Antarctica? And did you wear those funky hats yet? Thanks for coming to our school. Say "Hi" to some penguins while you're there!

First, I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your question but here goes.
You are right; it has been colder in Liverpool, NY than here on the frozen Amundsen Sea off the coast of Antarctica!  And, you have had more snow too.   Remember, it is summer here and we have not seen the sun set in over a week.  Most of the time it is a few degrees below freezing and I think the coldest so far was about -5?C.   The surface of the sea is a little warmer at -1.8?C.   We have been in Antarctic waters for a week.  Once we went below 60?S we were here.  I have tried most of my hats on the sea ice and you need to keep checking my journals to see pictures.
Take care, and keep reading my journal,
Jeff
