First, I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your question but here goes.
There is a tradition on most ships like Oden that when you cross an important line on the Earth (like we did at the Antarctic Circle) everyone who was crossing for the first time would get a certificate.  On Oden all of us who had never been to Antarctica before were marked with blue marker on our noses as a sign that we were invited to a crossing ceremony.  A few days later, after we crossed 66.6? S we had the ceremony including a visit by someone dressed as King Neptune!  I am now officially welcomed to Neptune’s icy realm.
