Merry Holidays :) Jeff

What kind of experiments are on board of Oden

It's very interesting what are you doing there

Julia

Jeff Peneston

Julia,
There are about 30 people on the Oden working on several different types of polar science.  I have described some of the projects in my journals over the last 2 weeks.  In fact, I made a video of a young woman named Julia who is studying Antarctica’s plants.  You can see that video on the 12/23 journal.  Other science teams are studying the microscopic life that lives in the sea ice,  the deep ocean currents, pollution that falls from the sky with the snow, and one group is measuring how the nutrients that are needed by the life in the sea moves around in the ocean.  There is also a very interesting project that is trying to understand the impact of diseases on Antarctic seals and you can see a video about them in my 12/19 journal.
Remember to keep reading my journals over the break.  There are new videos coming!
Take care,
Jeff Peneston
