   Hi,

Guess what? We went to Beaver Lake on Thanksgiving, and the lake wasn't even frozen yet! We'd like to go back again when you are home. We've had snow for 3 days now, and we have tons of snow, but not as much as you!  I have been following your blog, hoping to see more videos and wishing a Merry Christmas to you and your shipmates.

                                    Love, your nephew,

                                                  Jake.

Jake,
It sounds like you and I will both have a white Christmas this year.  I think it is interesting to remember that most of the people in the USA usually don’t have snow for the Christmas holidays.  In fact many places in the USA never get snow.  I think we are lucky that we usually do.  The really weird thing is that today was the solstice day and the first day of winter up North and today you had the least amount of daylight hours for the whole year.  At the same time, it was the first official day of summer for us on the Oden and we had 24 hours of daylight.  Everyone on the ship gathered on the back deck and we took a group photo to mark the day!
Keep checking my journal because I have a few more videos that I am working on.
Have a great Christmas and give your whole family a hug for me.
Love,
Uncle Jeff
