Hi Mr. Peneston,

How is Antarctica? Did you land on Antarctica yet?I wonder if they say land hoe! Our class is reading your journals. It must be cool going to Antarctica.

Alexandra!
First, I am sorry that it has taken me so long to reply to your question but here goes.
Antarctica is great.  It is more beautiful than words or pictures can describe.  However, we haven’t seen land for over a week and we won’t see any for almost a month to go.  We  are on the ship about 200 miles off the coast and yet we are surrounded by sea ice, seals and penguins.
