Ken!
Cold?  Right now I am sitting in the kitchen at my house in Upstate NY.  I am quite comfortable. However, we did get a few inches of snow last week and the weather here today was cool (about 5 degrees C) with a nice blue sky.  I am looking forward to going to Antartica in about 3 weeks.
Speaking of cold, go check out the journal of Ms. Ellwood who is living at a remote field camp in Antarctica http://www.polartrec.com/lake-ecosystems-in-antarctica.  She is sleeping in a tent every day at way below zero and then she gets up and goes SCUBA diving!  Talk about cold!
