Dear Jeff,

Howw many feet of snow and ice is there? We've got some. It's up to my snowmans head. But I'm curios about the snow there.

CJK,
I know that there is about a foot of snow back home at my house, North of Syracuse but right now I am off the coast of Argentina in the Southern Hemisphere summer. We are still wearing t-shirts. In a week, when we get to the sea ice on the coast of Antarctica, we expect to find up to 1 meter of snow on top of the ice. We will have to shovel that snow away in order to drill into the floating ice for samples.
Thanks for the question,
Jeff Peneston
