Hi, Jeff -- and everyone else I'm getting to know from the postings!

My question is about the time zones. I know you answered a question about them earlier, but I'm wondering how far apart one time zone is from the next at your latitude. If here at 43 degrees N, let's say the time zones are about 750 miles wide or so, how far apart are they for you there?

I am absolutely loving the journals and video clips. You sound like you're all having a blast! Stay safe, and keep having so much fun!

Ann!
Great question!  And. I am glad everyone is enjoying my adventure.  There would be no point to all of this if we didn’t have folks back home participating.
Anyway, I just spoke with Captain Erik and he and I went to the nautical charts and made some measurements.  We are currently at 71? S latitude and we measured the distance for 15? of longitude as about 238 miles.  So, we would have to change out clocks every 2-3 days as we slowly make our way through the sea ice from research station to station.  The good news for us is that we have no such plans.  The ship runs 24 hours a day in 24 hours of daylight on the same ship’s time that we had when we left Montevideo.
I hope that everyone at the Annex and everyone in your family is getting ready for a great holiday season.
Take care, keep reading my journal and keep asking questions,
Jeff
