Hi,
The Oden will leave South America with the scientists (and me) on board and it will take over a week for us to get to  the edge of the sea ice attached to Antarctica.  At that point the scientists will start to collect data about the chemistry of the sea ice as well as the ocean water.  Some of the scientists will also start to capture seals for their study of seal diseases.  We will spend about 3-4 weeks pushing through the sea ice (about 450 miles) and collecting data all the way.  We will then travel for a few days to get the Oden into the Ross Sea and ready to cut the channel in the sea ice all the way to McMurdo.
I am happy to answer your questions but it is more fun if I know your name.  You know mine, what is yours?
