Can you see the Polar Aurora from where you are? If yes can you take some pics aand put them in this website? Hugs and warm greeting from Israel. Hadar Ban David

Hi Hadar,I have not yet been able to see the Aurora from the ship. I have been
checking nightly, but generally there are too many clouds to get a good
viewing.
I will keep checking and report back when I do find a good viewing.
I'll share your message with Merav as well!
Thanks so much,
Cristina

Hi Cristina,   I'm glad you got to see at least a little bit of the aurora.  I know it is frustrating when you are that far north and the display is not very good.  You might try checking out this website:
http://www.gedds.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/
It may give you a better idea as to whether it is worth planning on waking up or not, and deciding how many clothes you want to put on before you go out.
I know when I was in Barrow, the best view was when I just ran out in the middle of the night with my PJs, parka and hiking boots loosely on.
The good news is that the sun is slowly starting to come out of its record breaking solar minimum and is becoming more active.
Best of Luck!!

Hi Betsy! Thanks so much for the link - I'll check it out! It says that Monday
is supposed to be a bit better, hopefully the clouds will cooperate!
Thanks,
Cristina

Cristina,   They just had a CME (coronal Mass ejection) from the sun.  They have rated tonight (monday 10/19) a 3 on the GI website.   Tomorrow may be good also.  Good luck with the clouds!!
