Ms. Galvan, How does a polar bear cub survive on food? Is there anything else that the do to live? amanda w.

Cristina Galvan

Hi Amanda,I love all your questions! Thanks so much!
A polar bear cub survives just like any other mammal when they are young.
They drink milk from their mothers. The polar bear milk is very thick and
fatty due to the seal that they eat.
It is amazing that the mother bear is able to make enough milk to support
a young polar bear that can be 150-200 pounds. As they get older, they
eat seal meat and learn to hunt.
Thanks,
Ms Galvan
