Ms. Herrmann! Your journal today was very map-y and exciting. (And you looked so Ready For Adventure.) Actually the whole post reminded me of the beginning of the movie Up, when Ellie's going crazy over South America and her "Adventure is out there!" motto.

I hope you are no longer stuck in Atlanta (in fact, while I miss you, I hope you're well on your way out of the country by now)...

HAVE FUN.

Hey Kieryn,Thanks so much for writing. I am still in Atlanta, but you're right... the adventure is out there! It's on the horizon... I know it!
Keep following along. Things will get more interesting pretty soon!

Ahh, I am so glad you didn't lose your bags. How good is the internet connection on the ship? (I did a double-take when you wrote that you were in the lounge, the orange-ness of the Gould it in the pictures makes it seem like a very no-nonsense kind of vessel. But at the same time I am quite glad there is a lounge with movies. Are they good movies?)Still so excited for you!! Best of luck.

Hi Kieryn,I'm so glad I didn't lose my bags too! I figured if worst came to worst I could always take things out of "skua" at Palmer Station. It's a bin of clothing with items in it that people have left behind. The thing I was most bummed about was the thought of not having my own socks and underwear! Luckily it all worked out.
The LMG is a scientific research vessel, so it's definitely "no nonsense," but there are several things in place to make it comfortable. Everyone on the ship is friendly and it's a comfortable ride.
Keep in touch!
