Hi Ms. Herrmann! It sounds like you're having such a good time and doing such interesting things! It must be amazing to be in a place so dedicated to science research, surrounded by people who are awesome at what they do. I really liked the multiple perspectives journal--do you get a chance to interact at least a little with all the people at the station? Are some people still boarding on the LMG or does everyone stay in the station? It sounds like you've been out on the water a lot! I'm glad you know how to rescue people now. How long is an average trip for you? I hope everything is still going well and you aren't homesick! Is the food as good as we'd heard? Mila

Hi Mila,Yes, it's very inspirational to be around people who are so dedicated to their research. We are so lucky that there are scientists like this in the world. I am in awe of my surroundings and the people in it. Yes, some people are still on board the LMG. The ship's crew and Dr. Bockheim's geology team will be leaving Friday to go back to Cierva Point for a few weeks. An average boat trip seems to be about 2 hours. Preparing and cleaning up afterwards takes a while (getting all the gear loaded onto and off the boat). Everything is going great, but I still miss people at home (especially Mr. Beck!). Yes, the food is as good as Dr. Amsler said. Don't tell anyone, but I had TWO desserts last night (homemade pumpkin pie and a homemade chocolate flourless torte). I think I need to swear off dessert for a few days! ;)
Have a great day,
Ms. Herrmann
