Hi Ms. Herrmann,

We really enjoyed your penguin and whale pictures. They're so awesome! You're a great photographer. We're glad you made it to Palmer Station at last. Laura thinks it was a very long trip--are you tired of traveling yet or is it still just as exciting? I can't wait until you start going out for research and exploring around the station, since I can sort of imagine it from all the pictures Dr. Amsler showed us. How often do you see penguins? Do you get some time to settle in or do you start doing things right away? I want to hear about your trips out in the diving boat. from 8th period LE, Mila and Laura P.S. I sent in my application for the JSEP! I'll let you know if anything comes of it. :)

Hi Mila and Laura,I'm glad you've been enjoying the pictures. I can't take credit for those whale photos (you may notice it says "courtesy of Bruce Felix"-he has a nice camera and is a great photographer). I did take the penguin picture, though, and he was a great model-he stood very, very still. I saw penguins today when I hiked ot the back side of the glacier behind the station. I"m not sure how regularly I'll see them once I start with field and lab work. We're going to start full speed ahead tomorrow, so I won't have much down time but that's good-I'm ready to go!
Keep in touch,
Ms. Herrmann
P.S.-Good luck with JSEP. I know you'd be great at it and I know you'd love it!
