Hello Ms. Herrmann!

You must be so excited to be finally beginning your research and exploration! As you begin your first days on land, what will your tasks consist of while you settle in? When do you begin going out to begin the tests and exploration?

Can't wait to hear back from you! Kyra

Hey Kyra,Great to hear from you!
I was just up in the bridge, talking with the first mate. We actually won't be getting to Palmer Station until 2-17! We'll be stopping along the wayto scout out a field station for some geologists and that should be exciting. Once I get to Palmer, I'll be trained to be a dive tender for Dr. Amsler, his wife Maggie, Dr. McClintock, and 2 graduate students Kate and Julie. I'll stay on the zodiac during dives and will help them from the boat. They'll be collecting samples, which we'll put in tanks in the lab. From what I understand, we'll be altering the pH and temperature of the water to see how it affects crustose coralline algae, limpets, and snails. I'm excited to dive into that (no pun intended!).
Glad you're following along. More soon!
