Here in State College it's 7:30 and I am about to watch the Grammy's. How long is the duration of the boat ride to Palmer Station and what's there to do on the boat? Have you seen any whales yet?

Hi there!Don't forget to sign your name so I know who I'm answering! It's great on the ship. We're in the Drake Passage now (the body of water between the tip of South America and the western Antarctic peninsula). The trip will be 4 days long, but this trip will involve some extra time on ship because of a team of geologists who need to stop at an island to examine a study site. There's an exercise room on the ship as well as a lounge with comfy chairs, a flat screen TV and WIFI. It's quite comfortable! The waters are rockier today, but it's no problem for me-I'm not at all seasick. I haven't seen any whales yet, but a couple people have spotted hourglass dolphins. I hope I get to see those. I have seen some amazing birds including terns, great petrels, and Antarctic skuas.
Keep in touch! (Who won the Grammys?)
