Hey there Ms. Herrmann! I hope you didn't get eaten by a polar bear, because that would a) be very bad and b) mean you went to the wrong pole.

I was wondering, and you may have to forgive my ignorance as to where exactly Palmer Station is, what is the tidal pattern and range down there? And do the tides heavily affect what work you can do and when?

I imagine if they're Bay-of-Fundy-scale, problems would occur.

Cathryn!Great to hear from you! These are fantastic questions.
I found online that the mean annual tide range between high and low tide at Palmer Station is only 0.65 m. This was from the book **Foundations for ecological research West of the Antarctic Peninsula.** The tidal range in the Bay of Fundy is more like 15 m. I'm not sure how much the tides will affect when we go out in the boat, but I will certainly keep you posted.
Keep in touch!
