Hi! I'm Matt M. from Mr. Wood's 6th period science class. I was woundering if the O-zone hole affects the data your getting?

Juan Botella

Hi Matt, thanks for writing. The ozone hole does not affect the data that we are
collecting. Most of our samples come from very deep water where the ozone
cannot reach. It does affect us, though. The ozone layer, as you might
know, protect us from ultra violet radiation by filtering it out. The large
hole over Antarctica lets more UV rays pass through the atmosphere. People
in Antarctica need to wear UV glasses and sunscreen to not be harmed.
Thanks for writing,
Juan.
