Dear Mr. Botella,

My name is Emily M. from Mr. Wood's 6th period science class. I am a big fan of marine biology, and I was wondering if you have seen any beluga whales? When I went to Sea World for the first time when I was about 7, I got to see a beluga whale, and as I learned more about them I became even more interested in them. :-) After that, I became interested in marine biology in general. Thank you for your time, and I hope that you get the chance to reply. :-)

Thank You So Much, Emily M.

Juan Botella

HI Emily, thanks for writing. I have not seen beluga whales and I do not think we
will see them. My animal guide for the Antarctic waters says they do not
live around here. They must be like Polar bears and live only in the
Northern Hemisphere, but I am not sure.
We have seen humpback whales at an amazing close distance. We could hear
them make all sorts of noises, like grunting. It was amazing! I have seen
orcas very far as well as Minke whales.
I like marine biology as well. It is wonderful to see all the different
kinds of organisms that call the oceans their home.
Thanks again for writing,
Juan.
