SIMBA Antarctic Sea Ice

Hi Sarah,

I saw that the ice biologists are going to get a hunk of the ice to analyze back in the lab in your reply to Lollie. What kinds of algae did they find? Wondering so I can compare it to what we saw on the Healy in the Bering Sea in April-May. Kinda hard to believe you are going into spring down there!

Hi Maggie - I'm not sure the outcome of the analysis of the algae - last I heard they were working on getting a camera attached to a microscope...I'll check on what they found and get back to you. It would be very interesting to compare what we find to what you found in April-May. We're in Punta Arenas again waiting for cleanup from our fire and clearance to leave - the weather is really great for late winter - sunshine and probably 55 degrees.
