Why isn't there soil in the rest of Antartica?why do we need to know if there's life?

First, tell Mr Armstrong that you did not put your name on your assignment and to give you a zero. The Dry Valleys offer a rare glimpse at the soil because it is not covered in ice. The mountains around this area keep storms from making it to this part of the continent. There is not one specific reason we need to know this. First, it is the place on earth that is most similar to Mars. We are very interested in finding life on that planet because it may mean that we are not alone in this universe and beyond. It is also important for us to document and expand our scientific knowledge. Without science and advancements in technology we would just be hanging out waiting to die.JK
