Soil Ecology in Antarctic Dry Valleys

Dear Mr.Kendhammer, I was just wondering how do you find soil if 98% of antartica is covered in ice? what are you doing when you find the soil?

Hello,We are in the 2%. The Dry Valleys are mostly clear of snow and ice due to the high mountains in the surrounding area keeping storms from making to this area. We are looking for microbial activity in the soil. We also measure things like moisture, pH, and salinity. Thanks for the question.JK
