Hi my name is Bailee I go to Pope John Paul II High School in Boca Raton, Florida, and I am currently taking a course in marine science. I wanted to know what is the most interesting thing you have found or done on your journey in the Antarctic.

Hi Bailee,This may seem like a strange reply but I would say it is the different forms of ice I have encountered. Our camp at Lake Hoare is next to Canada glacier, an incredible and dynamic mass of ice. It makes a variety of noises from cracking, pinging, and knocking, to full on booming and accompanying crashes of ice. Along with this the lake offers a variety of different looks. The lake gets its name from the multitude of heaving and mounding that take place on the surface. Often it presents with a dazzling array of blues that offer glimpses deep under the surface. I find myself stopping for long stares into the depths.A couple of quick facts, the glaciers here are frozen into the ground unlike glaciers in other parts of the world. They are also not in recession, unlike most of the planets glaciers. Thanks for the question.Justin
