Dear Elke,

Now you are there at the Pole, and you learn what other folks are investigating, what other issues intrigue you about the polar environment besides your ozone questions.

I also sent a reminder to Briones school and my Elementary teachers to be in touch
Wishing you a wonderful Christmas,
x Jeannie

Dear Jeannie, Thank you or notifying the teachers in California that I am actually at the Pole already. It has been such along time since I presented to them in September!
There are so many other projets going on here that are very intriguing. I am fascinated by the new South Pole Telescope , the largest in the world that can look even further back in time than other telescopes have done so far, detecting  energy from thousands of years back. I will designate a whole Journal about it. So stay tuned. You will love it!
I  posted a journal about the largest project here at the Pole: the "IceCube" project that will detect more neutrinos as previous projects were able to do. They use the depth of the polar ice sheet to put Digital Optical Modules deep into the ice to select the neutrinos that have penetrated the earth from the northern hemisphere and will be detected here at the South Pole!!! Amazing. I also met the scientists that do Aurora reserach . I will be visiting them next week.
A very Merry Christams to you as well. Greetings to you all.
Cheers, Elke
