Hi Ms. Bergholz,

I hope you are having a good time in Antartica and are having a happy holidays. I had some questions for you.

- What the the main mode of transportataion?

- What is the Average Temperature?

-  Have you gone on the swing? If yes how many times?

- Do eat a lot of fish?

Thanks,

Hi Joey,  1. There are different vehicles at the station for different puposes.  There is no main mode of transportation since most of us wolk everywhere. It is a good way to get excercise. One end of the station to the next is no more that 1.5 miles apart . There is a van to transport people (the shuttle) if they wish or if they have just arrived here to help them to get used to the altitude. There are also snow mobiles to transport equipment and peolpe. We also have very heavy vehicles to transport cargo or construction material.. Some of them take care of the runway or to transport snow. I have taken pitures of most of them and will post a journal about our vehicles. 2. The average temperature around this time of the year is - 18 F, in the winter it is - 75 F, both without windchill factor!3. No, I have not gone on the swing yet because it does no exist anymore, unfortunately. The arch has been used to buld storage for fuel tank containers. 4. I eat fish if it is served but no more than other foods.  All food is frozen when it arrives , but is is very tasty. We are 800 miles away from the coast and we do not get any fresh fish, if it is that what you mean. Besides, no one would get fresh fish out of the Antarctic ozean because of the Antarctic Treaty protection agreements.  Happy New Year!Elke Bergholz
