I was just wondering what the "race around the world" was. It must be a little tough to be away from your family. I commend your determination to be a part of such an exciting project! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Dear Sharon Solis,  Thank you so much for your comment. I appreciate it. We all are trying to be family for each other here. That helps. The "Race Around The World" is a traditon at the South Pole Station every December 25th at 10 am. We are racing around the pole in a circle three times, a total of  2 mile. Since we at 90 degree South we are actually going around the world while going around the Geographic Pole. The race can be done by walking , running , skiing or driving any type of vehicle. I have seen videos and I think it will be great fun. I will report about it in my Christmas journal!! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your 5th graders as well. Elke Bergholz
