Simone, It looks like they are going to have you run the whole ship soon! You can do just about everything. I really like your Easter cup in the before and after picture.

Are you pulling creatures up from that same depth? If so, how do they react to the lower pressure on board the ship?

Does anyone work in the -80C freezer, or is it just for storage? We had a 5C, -20C and -40C freezer in Barrow. I accidentally "burned" my finger on the door of the -40C freezer, because I wasn't thinking that it would be cold inside the building.

Keep up the good work. Betsy

Hi Betsy- Thanks for the positive feedback!  We are pulling creatures up- sometimes on purpose, sometimes as "hangers-on".  We have jellyfish stuck to things often!  Last week we got a starfish in one of our mud samples.  Unfortunately, the critters don't stay alive long enough to see how they respond to the pressure change.  Most of the scientists preserve them fairly quickly before any major changes can occur.  Noone works in the freezer, it is only for storage.  Thank goodness!  I didn't bring clothes for that!  Hope your finger is better by now and that you are settling in back home!
