Hi Simone, I hope by the time you read this you're feeling better.Just keep remembering what an awesome adventure this is :D By now you respect the incredible power and beauty of the open ocean, and because of this voyage you will never think of it in the same way as before! Questions from school: How much daylight and night are you seeing now? About how high in the sky is the sun? What is the largest marine group population in the Bering Sea? Is there a walrus study on this cruise? Will you be back into sea ice? Have you noticed a change in temperature (warming)?

We love your journals and tour of the ship. Nice shot in the fireman's suit! Smooth sailing ahead my friend !! Lollie

Hola Lollie! Thanks for asking about the seasickness.  Luckily, I only felt sick for one day so I am back in action now.
Answers:
Daylight, lots of it.  The Sun still rises fairly late- sometime between 6 and 7.  It stays light extremely late though- at midnight last night there still seemed to be lingering rays! It does rise and set though so we get a few hours of night.
There is no walrus study on the cruise this time.  There are marine mammal observers who are surveying the populations but no tagging or tracking. :(
We arrived in the sea ice again this morning.  It seems to be too thin to actually do an ice station on but we will send an man-basket down so that Katrin can collect some samples. Wish it were me!
Each day seems a bit warmer.  It is chilly out this morning now that we are back in the ice but we have had days above freezing lately and it has seemed like summer!  32F feels like sunbathing temps- crazy huh?
Largest marine group population?  Not sure how to answer this- do you mean marine mammals?  Largest in size or number?  Let me know.
Great to hear from you guys!
Simone
