Mr. Clark,

My name is Tyson DiRubbo and I believe my Flat Stanley is on board your trip to Antarctica. I am in third grade and I live in Skaneateles, NY. Our flat Stanley's have traveled to California, Florida, Europe, and Africa but never to Antarctica. I am excited to hear about his and your trip. I believe he came aboard with Dr. Leventer.

I was wondering when do you think you will get there? Are there going to be penguins? Have you seen any other animals? Is there any good food on the ship and what is your favorite food? Have you seen my flat Stanley?

From TYSON

Hi Tyson, It is nice to hear from you. I love Skaneateles. I am fromPotsdam NY and we travel their for hockey. I will check with Dr.
Leventer and make sure he is safe .Once we get there I will be sure to
take a photo of him and send it to you. The food is awesome and
plentiful. According to the captain he expects us to see ice in a few
days. It is a long transit to Antarctica. I am certain we will see
penguins, whales and hopefully seals on our journey. I will keep you
posted. Thanks Glenn Clark

Dear Glenn,
I enjoyed reading your journal about the ships food. When do you think you will start to see ice? My mom was reading about Antarctica and she told me that it only gets two inches of snow or rain each year and it is one of the driest places on earth. What is your favorite fact about Antarctica?
Tyson
PS we still can't see Stanley

Glenn Clark

Hi Tyson. Check out my last blog. It's about Flat Stanley. Thanks Glenn

Dear Glenn,
I am having fun here in Syracuse awaiting a possible snow day tomorrow (6-12 inches my mom said). The answer to the homework is "only two (emperor and Adélie) make the Antarctic continent their true home, although others (chinstrap, gentoo and macaroni) breed on the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula, where conditions are less harsh." - Penguins - British Antarctic Survey (www.antarctica.ac.uk/about_antarctica/wildlife/birds/penguins).
thank you for the pictures

Dear Glenn,
Do you have any friends that have been to Antarctica but they are not on the boat?
from Tyson

Glenn Clark

Hi Tyson, Sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I do have a friendwho is presently stationed at the Geographic South Pole. I've attached a
photo of Flat Stanley. He is driving the boat through the sea ice!

Mr. Clark,I read that you are from Potsdam and have been to Skaneateles for hockey. I thought you might want to know that the Potsdam and Skaneateles girl's varsity hockey teams were declared co-champions after skating to a 2-2 tie after 4 over times in the state title game this last Saturday in Clayton.
Can you please have Flat Stanley find out how long Antartica is?
Thank you.

Hello Mrs. Taylors class. We have reached the Antarctic coast. We are still on ship and doing the science. Flat Stanley has driven the boat for a while and he did a shift at marine mammal observing. I have pictures and can send them. Please use my ship email glenn.clark.guest@nbp.usap.gov . This will allow me to send updates and photos faster. Glenn

Mr. Clark,As you may have guessed my mom spoke with my teacher, and she made a handout for my class so we can all follow Stanley on his adventure. I will have my teacher log on to your email so we can all share the pictures.
