why did you go to alaska? what training did you need?

I went to Alaska for the PolarTREC Orientation...it is sort of like Freshman Orientation (or Freshman focus)...we needed training in how to use the technology (cameras, computers, satellite phones) we would be using, how to use the software (I have to have high resolution and low resultion copies of every picture I put on this blog), protocols for how to write journals, what to take pictures of, how to do outreach with other classrooms, etc. Plus, we got to go on some pretty cool field trips and experience Alaska! It was great!
