how long is it to collect the copepods when you actually get started

                                   alisha moore

p.s here is the question for what i was going to write in class but couldn't

Chantelle Rose

Great question..I am not sure how long it will take us to get to our first sample site. I know that the ship deosn't even leave the dock until Nov 7, so I don't suppose we will be collecting samples until at least the 8th! You will have to check the journal every day! : ) Glad it worked for you now!

Anonymous

ok i see............so how come you have to stay there soo long for

Anonymous

I miss you ........... the sub Mr. Smith I think is cool ......I'm not very smart with learning energy though.....question ..........If you did catch copepods would they let you bring some home with you ............I think the ones you ordered are probly doomed by now i don't know I didn't check today........nother question....... how long will you actually stay to observe the copepods "if" you catch them..... stay safe. Alisha Moore

Chantelle Rose

Okay...I am gone so long because we are taking samples from lots of different places in three different seas - that will take a while! I'm glad you like the sub and energy will come easier once you start doing labs! I can see if I can bring some home, but it will be during Christmas break, so they too may be doomed! I am told we WILL catch them...it is just a matter of which species! I am not sure how long they will live...I will let you know when we start catching them!

Anonymous

OK that sounds like fun ......um about energy it's just comfusing sometimes.....i'm going to be soooooo excited if your alowed that would be AWSOME.....And is the machine that they catch copepods big

Chantelle Rose

I don't think the equipment we use to sample for the copepods will be big...I will let you know once we do it!

Anonymous

I think that it will be big.......mybe medume size

Chantelle Rose

You can check out the Journal for Nov 6. There are two pictures of the nets we will be using to sample for copepods. The nets are large, but they funnel down to a codend (the container that holds the sample). The codend is about the size of a 2 liter bottle. That is pretty small!

Anonymous

Ok that makes sence but i think it's the one that my home computer won't load so i'll have to wait till we go to the computer lab

Anonymous

sooo guess what I got my computer to load that nov 6th on and the pic of the 2 nets were like I said mediume size.....the other one was HUGE ......i looked at your new one and I will have to wait to answer your questions at school !!!!

science is hard but I like to learn new things.

Chantelle Rose

I LOVE to learn new things...I think that is one of the most important things we can do in life...always keep learning!!

Anonymous

It's so exciting to learn new things or even work with new things.....ok except math....not my best subject........heard about the storm hope you are ok ......obviously u r a SURVIVOR ......STAY EXTRA SAFE.. :)

Chantelle Rose

I will stay safe for sure!! And - math is okay!! I will have some ship math in a few journals!

Anonymous

ok .....math is difficault......the question for october talking about polystyrene cups .....The changes will be that the copepods will multiply when you get to different places....question #2 about the oil... 20% is produced in alaska....guessed on that one !!!!!!!!!!!

Chantelle Rose

The polystyrene cup question...think about what changes will happen with the cup. Not copepods...it will be a "guess" because I haven't done anything with the cups yet! The oil question...google it! : )

Anonymous

i've tried it I couldn't find it

Anonymous

the answer to whats the difference between copepods and amphipods is copepods are smaller in size and amphipods are large in size .......also copepods look more beetle-ish and amphipods look more grasshoper-ish ........if this sounds dummm then BLAM THE INTERNET.....haha cuzz that's were I got my answer from.

Chantelle Rose

That's funny...well that is one difference. Are you writing these answers in your journal too? : )
