You said that the Spectacled Eider was "a large sea duck that spend their spring and summer on coastal tundra and during the winter they move far offshore in waters up to 65 meters deep where they gather in flocks in openings of nearly continuous ice." Are these "sea ducks" similar to the mallard ducks we see in Ohio in ponds and lakes?

It is a duck, so same body shape, same good swimming abilities. The spectacled eider is a different color, larger and endangered!
