In one of your journal entries, I saw you mention something about Tetanus. What exactly is that illness you needed a shot for? Why is it such a risk all the way up in that kind of environment?

Tetanus is a disease that can cause lock-jaw...a very serious medical situation. The Medical Officer aboard the HEALY expects everyone to have their tetanus vaccination up to date...it is not a worry that we will get tetanus because it is on the ship - it is more of a precaution to protect against the disease in case of a scrap or puncture wound! I should have had one even if I stayed in Ohio!
