Hello Mr. Botella,

I have been very busy lately and hadn't had the chance to look at the blog for quite a while, but today I finally had the chance to.

I thought that the lesson on density was helpful and very easy to understand.

I remember your drawings from when I was in your class last year, and I really enjoyed the ones in the entry about tsunamis! I wish I could draw like that!

Also, I really liked the entry about you going out on the speed boat. I hardly recognized you now the you are growing a beard. I thought it was cool to be able to listen to you reading it too!

Mr. Willauer told us that you will be a "guest speaker" at school on Thursday after we get back from break. I'm looking forward to it.

I am glad to hear that the weather has been much better for you guys lately. It's starting to warm up here, which has been really nice!

I'm going on my first cruise over spring break, but I won't be doing any science research. :)

Talk to you later, Ellen

Juan Botella

Hi Ellen, thanks for writing! I am glad you are enjoying following our research
down here, and I am glad the audio journal worked. I was not sure it would.
I get you e-mail a bit too late to give you suggestions now that you are
going on a cruise, as you spring break has started. I hope you are a better
sailor than I am. Enjoy the cruise!
About the beard, I will shave it once I get to Punta Arenas, Chile. I
want my kids to be able to recognize me after so long, and the beard would
certainly not help.
I will catch up with all of t you on March 31. Thanks again for writing.
Juan.

The cruise was great! The ship was so big that sometimes I forgot we were even moving. We had great weather and stopped at the Grand Cayman Islands and Cozumel, Mexico. I was surprised at how clear the water was; it was beautiful! I was sad to have to come back to the cold weather.Don't worry, I'm sure your kids will recognize you, but I guess it's probably a good idea to get rid of the beard just in case. :)
"See" you Thursday,
Ellen

Hi Ellen, I am glad you had great time on the cruise. I love Cozumel, it is such a
great town; or at least it was 10 years ago when I was there last. The East
coast of the Yucatan peninsula is developing so fast that it changes a lot
from year to year. Luckily, Cozumel being an already developed island has
kept its charm.
Must be tough to go back to temperatures on the teens and still some
snow, as I heard that is what it was in Madison yesterday.
See you on Thursday,
Juan.
