Hello my name is Olivia and I am a student at Pope John Paul II High School in Florida. During your down time, why is it you chose to study Ross island? Thank you!

Brian DuBay

Ross Island is the biggest base in Antarctica. It is run bu the U.S. Air force. Anyone going to a field camp or another site on the continent goes through McMurdo Station on Ross Island. Right now there are 727 people here with only around 200 being scientists, the rest are here to maintain the base and keep us all alive. We chose to stay here and fly out to our sites on day trips. Our sites cover about 300 miles of the continent so a field camp would not work.
