Museum of the North: Part One

The Room where you go to Listen

Museum of the NorthMuseum of the North

After several days of training for PolarTrec at the conference center we finally got to leave the building. While it was cold (negative something) it was a lot of fun and very interesting. Over the next couple of days I will share some of what I experienced at the museum.

To start, I want to tell you about, "The Room where you go to Listen." This room was tucked in a corner on the second floor of the museum. After reading the name of the room I honestly had no idea what to expect. This is what was in the mysterious room...

So maybe not what you were expecting, it was not what I was expecting. In case you didn't make it to the middle of the video where the explanation is, these sounds are the sounds of nature that people would not normally be able to hear. The music is created by vibrations of the earth and the interactions of nature. It may just sound like noise to some, but it is actually very complicated music. There is still a lot more to share about my adventure in the museum from holding a hibernating squirrel to touching a mammoth's tooth, but that will have to wait until tomorrow. I am heading to bed, I hope you enjoyed this addition to my journal.

Nice journal, I really love that picture of the stair well and window, too. I think the room where you go to listen is my favorite part of the museum. you did a great job of sharing it and getting the written text about it into a readable video!!

I am glad you think the view of the stairs are nice.  The museum was wonderful, but the actual building was amazing as well.

The lighting from outside also really helped capture how neat the windows were.
