The sun came out in the evening, and a swan searched for food.

However, it was time for bed. This last photo was taken at 11 PM, on my way back from the shower building.

Regina-
Your photos and journals are excellent and informative and I enjoy following along with your expedition! I wonder if you've been taking measurements from the thermokarst failures mentioned in the research synopsis?

Susan Steiner

nice pictures...I love how it is hard to tell night from day when it's foggy out. I also love that foot travel is just not a problem on a foggy tundra day. Looks like greenup is not quite complete?

Hi, Lucy. I wish that you were here!We went to a thermokarst yesterday. I poked a thermometer into a ground
opening and got a reading of 5ºC. The top of the soil was 10ºC. I
didn't take other measurements yet, but am doing a lot of exploring. The
researchers are taking water samples from various sites for their
experiments.

Hi, Susan. I often think of you, remembering your comments and advice for Toolik. I do not know if greenup is complete or not. I'm not seeing
many buds on plants, though. We are going to different sites tomorrow so
I hope to see more flowers. Check out the video I just posted.
