It’s time to design your Antarctic flag!
Would you like to be like our adventurers and have your very own flag placed on the ice of Antarctica? Now you can, by participating in the “Fly a Flag” challenge!
This could be your flag. Here’s how to participate:
Step 1: Purchase a FLAG.
- Flags are available at the Pink Palace Museum Gift Shop for $10 (cash only). This includes the flag, return envelope and return postage.
- If you are out of town/state and would like to purchase a flag, contact me at alex.eilers [at] memphistn.gov.
Step 2: Decorate your FLAG.
- Create a design on the ‘face’ of the flag. Designs can be about Antarctica, animals that are found there, or your own creation. Please be sure to use permanent markers, such as Sharpies!
- Don’t forget to sign your flag!
Step 3: Return your FLAG to me at the Pink Palace.
- Drop if off in person or mail it to:
Alex Eilers
Pink Palace Museum
3050 Central Ave.
Memphis, TN 38111
Flags should be returned by November 6, 2015. If you are unable to meet this deadline, flags will still be accepted until December 8; however, an additional shipping fee may apply.
Be sure to include the flag, completed registration form, and self-addressed envelope.
Step 4: Watch for your FLAG to appear in a journal!
- I’ll take your flag with me to Antarctica and fly it over the ice. Then, I will post a picture of your flag in one of my journals.
Step 5: Your FLAG will be returned to you.
- Once the expedition is over, I’ll return your flag to you in the self-addressed envelope you provided, so you can have your very own Antarctic flag.
What will your flag look like?
The “Fly a Flag” challenge is a great way to participate in our adventure to Antarctica, as well as a very unique way to get a souvenir of the trip for you or as a gift for someone special! I look forward to seeing all of your fantastic flags decorate the ice!
You can register for this challenge and others at Antarctica Revisited.
